He has written four books: Inverting The Pyramid: The History Of Football Tactics, which was named Football Book of the Year in 2008; Behind The Curtain: Football In Eastern Europe; An Anatomy Of England: A History In Ten Matches; and Sunderland: A Club Transformed. A columnist for World Soccer, Jonathan freelances for several publications, including the Guardian, Sports Illustrated and Champions.
