Harry helps more than owner
This has to be classed as a very good week to be associated with the club. One away win and a clean sheet at Millwall followed by a tough fixture at home against northern opposition Barnsley. Thankfully this resulted in a home win with a very young side being put out by the manager. We are used to watching youngsters given the chance at our club and the conveyer belt continues to produce.
One player who was taken and nurtured through the clubs youth system is Marvin Sordell. He had broken into the England under 21 side recently and was putting together a good run of performances and goals. So with the transfer window closing fast, it was made clear to certain clubs that two of our highest value players, Sordell and Marriapa, we available at the correct price.
This is where the water’s get mudded by the Owner, loving known as Ba££ini, ( Bassini) and some of the players agents. I will not go into who said what, but given the track record since he took over the club my personal belief is the players agent is nearer the truth. Since Bassini took over he has had no trouble at all in flogging off any player who attracts an interest, regardless how much it weakens the squad.
Marvin was pulled on the afternoon of the away game at Millwall by Bassini as he was looking to sell him. This despite the player going through the pre match preparations with the rest of the team. If Bassini has acted like this since he took charge of the club then it is no wonder managers and players have been only too willing to move on. I would love to know as a fan how he passed the famous fit and proper person test.
Since the cup exit at the hands of Tottenham, Harry Redknapp gave a speech saying if Watford played week in week out like they did against them, then we would be in a more healthy league position. The players must have taken that pep talk to heart as we have gained six points from six since. Now some how despite Bassini selling anyone and anything he seems fit too the spirit among players and current manager looks from the outside to be strong. Long may that continue.
