My one true Valentine!
As soon as we were promoted to the Premier League, Norwich were immediately installed as most pundits favourites for the drop this season.
Lambert brought in a few new players during the summer, not big names, but young, talented players from the Championship and League 1. The pundits said that without Premier League experience we were guaranteed to fail.
The first half of the season, we got on with the business of picking up points and at the end of the year we were in 10th position. Pundits were comparing us with Blackpool, and Swansea (who were below us in the table) to Barcelona!
Since then we have played eight games (including the FA Cup) and have six wins, one loss and a draw, including an away win at Barcelona (sorry, Swansea). Pundits are now (surprisingly) quiet!
We’re in 8th place in the table, on 35 points (only four behind Liverpool) and have almost guaranteed Premier League survival (by Valentines day!). In fact the talk of the terrace is let’s look up the table and see if we can pinch a European spot!
What can I say about the players? They’ve been magnificent. From talisman, Grant Holt, through to our fantastic keeper, John Ruddy, they’ve proved not only can they compete, but they can win at this level. The manager Paul Lambert, has shown unbelievable tactical awareness, and has outthought most of his peers this season.
Most Norwich fans are walking on clouds at the moment. We’re still in the Cup and we’re looking forward to more great moments this season.
