Watford’s financial concerns continue

by Neil S avatar

In this week’s local paper our beloved owner gave what was described an in-depth interview giving his views and hopes for the club in the future. Trouble is in my eyes it raises more questions that it answers. This week bigger clubs than ours went into administration, so to read what our Owner has in his vision does raise more than an eyebrow.

This is a man who claims to have various business which have been successful, yet when questioned as to what these business are, he replied “ My private business is a private matter”. Really? If he intends to redevelop our knackered old East stand, finish off the south west corner, relay the pitch and redevelop then is it too much to ask how this is going to be funded?

When questioned about the future of Saracens Rugby Club he was unsure whether they would be in residence next season while their own new ground is being built. As far as I am aware he bought our club for £400,000, yet states he turned down offers of, get this, £10million for a minority stake in the club.

I am not a business man but if someone was offered £10million after they only paid £400,000 out then I doubt anyone in today’s climate would turn that offer down. His difference of views regarding player sales carried on this week with his version of Marvin Sordell’s transfer and the ultimately unsuccessful sale of Aidy Marriapa varying from the players agents’.

They were offered for sale by a sports agency yet he claims that the two highly sought after players were not offered by him. Yet Marvin was pulled from the squad on the afternoon of the Millwall game to be sold to Bolton. Fans of the club would love to put questions to him in person but he seems he only replies via newspapers and the club’s website.

In the article it claims he is involved in 15 various businesses, well if he is running Watford Football Club I want him to put as much of his time effort and money into the club. If this article was meant to clear the air, then personally I am afraid it does not and only makes me want to ask more questions. He will not have the full backing of support of the fans until he directly answers our questions and honestly.
