Wolves disrupt Sunderland’s assault on the European pack
I had a feeling we would get beat against Wolves on Saturday. It’s become typical of Sunderland these days to do well against the “top teams” only to become unstuck against those where you feel we’ve got a decent chance of getting something. So in that respect we were true to form and for that reason I was strangely upbeat about how exciting our forward line is becoming rather than going on too much of a downer.
I don’t think another fruitless winter is on the cards (last year was a nightmare). I know the more pessimistic Sunderland fans are worrying about another bout of Seasonal Affective Disorder from the lads but surely we’ll be ok now that Gyan, Bent and Wellbeck all look like they could knock in a hat-trick whenever the mood takes them.
I’m still quite hopeful of a European place despite the blip of only 1 point from the last 6. We could very easily have took all 6 points had it not been for late strikes in each game resulting in a draw and a loss.
