Goetze “higher on Arsenal’s wish list” than Reus
Arsenal have been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach young star Marco Reus this past week. But the Daily Mirror’s Martin Lipton believes any talk of a transfer is premature and that Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Goetze is more of a priority for Arsène Wenger.
“I think he [Reus] said he’d be quite interested, one day, if Arsenal came in for him because he likes the club,” says Martin. “But I think Goetze is rather higher on their wish list, the Dortmund lad who’s really, really talented.”
But with Germany churning out top-quality young players like it’s going out of fashion, Martin wouldn’t rule out a move to Arsenal for Reus in the future. “The Germans are, we saw from the World Cup with [Thomas] Muller, [Mesut] Ozil and [Sami] Khedira, a conveyor belt of young talent, and Reus is part of that, so at some point it wouldn’t be a surprise.”
