“Mancini needs to settle on a back line”

Manchester City have already conceded 20 goals in all competitions this season, so it’s hardly surprising that questions are being raised about their chances of retaining the Premier League crown. Are they good enough to land back-to-back titles? Here, the Guardian’s Dominic Fifield explains why he still sees Roberto Mancini’s men as favourites.

“I think City will challenge for the Premier League, and I still think they will probably win it,” Dominic says. “They haven’t been impressive, but they are still unbeaten. They have lost their defensive stability from last season and that has been exposed, most obviously in Europe. [Mancini] needs to settle on a back line and get that back, because it was the basis of their championship success last year.”

Injuries haven’t helped but the goals conceded column in league games isn’t that bad.

i agree, but kompany is missing tackling and when other teams have a set piece there s a lot of loose marking and from crosses city are conceeding goals what will kompany do when ronaldo comes??he need to show what he s able to do by not lettting ronaldo or even other player pass they need to tackle and tackle must be neat not make a penalty.as for mitfield and strikers we expect more creativy and lot of goals from tevez and aguero thier work is not only to play well but to score score scor, balotelli need to leave he haven t done nothing for city, bring falcoa or neymar if they come we need one striker at least the type of van pierse one shot one goal.and bring walcott to city
