‘Wenger won’t lose both Nasri and Fabregas this summer’
The transfer saga surrounding key Arsenal players Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas heated up this week when Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that Nasri had decided to leave the Emirates Stadium, but wouldn’t be going to Old Trafford. Tom Hopkinson of The People feels that although the comment was designed to irritate Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager will keep at least one of Nasri or Fabregas this summer.
“I found Sir Alex Ferguson’s comments very interesting actually,” Tom explains. “He came out and said [Nasri] is going to go, but it won’t be to Manchester United.
“It’s pretty obvious that it’s Fergie up to his mind games again and enjoying the fact that he’s probably winding Arsène Wenger up as well,” Tom adds, despite pointing out: “We all know the pair get on.”
Tom believes there is no way that Wenger would allow two such important players as Nasri and club captain Fabregas to leave this transfer window, especially to Premier League rivals Man Utd in Nasri’s case.
“I would be very surprised if Wenger allowed Nasri and Fabregas to leave in the same summer – I just can’t see it happening. Of course if Fabregas goes, it allows [Wenger] to bring Nasri in and play him a little bit more centrally, alongside Jack Wilshere.”
