Kagawa to Man Utd, Spurs after Demba Ba, Clyne to Newcastle?

The final whistle of the Premier League season means many things to many people. For the men in suits behind the scenes, however, it may as well be a starting pistol signifying BUSINESS O’CLOCK. From now until September, money will be flying back and forth through the transfer window, and names that once meant nothing will come to mean everything. Right now, the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle are chucking monikers around willy-nilly. The Life’s A Pitch team momentarily stops discussing their Jubilee plans to mark transfer rumours out of 10 – with 10 meaning “totally”, zero being “no-tally”.

Before Spurs and Newcastle go under the microscope, Martin Lipton of the Daily Mirror talks about these rumours surrounding Dortmund’s Japanese genius Shinji Kagawa joining Man Utd for around £17million. “I think he’s worth it actually,” begins Martin. “United are looking for a player with that kind of explosive ability, and it’s clear they’re really keen to get him – it’s been rumoured for a few weeks. I think it’s going to happen, so I’ll give it a 9 out of 10.”

Next up, David Walker of the Sunday Mirror ponders Newcastle’s Demba Ba joining Spurs for £7million. Ba, of course, famously has a buy-out clause for about that amount. “The option’s there to take him, and he’s refusing to discuss a new contract,” says David. “I think he’d be perfect for Tottenham, so I’ll give it a 9.”

Lastly, Janine Self of The People turns her attention to Crystal Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne, who’s been linked with a move to Newcastle to the tune of £5million. Unlikely, though, decides Janine. “They’re talking about £5million and that’s a lot of money on an untried Championship fullback. He’s a good player and a good prospect, but knowing Graham Carr at Newcastle, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a French player turning up in that position. I’d give it a 5.”

I’m beginning to take a shine , to Martin Lipton of the Daily Mirror with his assessment of ” Dortmund’s Japanese genius ” ( like it ) Shinji Kagawa .
I think you might be correct, as a journalist with access to more sources than the normal fan, that Kagawa is Old Trafford bound .
” I think it’s going to happen ” Martin Lipton says. I have saved that thought.
Lets hope one scribe has it correct , in my opinion also. 10/10 Martin.
Tisk tisk  Janine Self , you have let yourself down , don’t you know that Manchester United have privately agreed terms with Crystal Palace to sign Nathaniel Clyne to provide sustained competition for Rafael da Silva’s  right back  berth. :)
