Two Minute Warning
Which youngsters will book place in England Euro 2012 squad?
Now the England team have qualified for Euro 2012 and head coach Fabio Capello appears willing to experiment with young players, the Life’s A Pitch panel has been discussing which young players could book their place on the plane to the finals in Poland and Ukraine.
Jason Burt of the Daily Telegraph believes that Tottenham’s Kyle Walker will make the squad because of his attacking qualities. ”I think he will go because he’s the best attacking young right back that England have got,” Jason explains. “Walker’s progression is interesting. He’s doing very well at Tottenham, obviously scored in the north London derby recently, and he’s growing in confidence.”
Fellow north London youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has also been getting rave reviews. And John Cross of the Daily Mirror thinks the Arsenal midfielder has an “outstanding chance” of making the squad. “If Fabio Capello’s acid test is the Champions League, then he only has to look at his [Oxlade-Chamberlain's] outstanding performance for Arsenal in that.”
Chelsea also have a youngster capable of making the squad in Daniel Sturridge, says the Guardian’s Dominic Fifield. ”If he maintains his progress and retains a place in the Chelsea side then he’s got an excellent chance,” Dominic explains.
